What you’ll learn

Learn how to make sneakers from scratch and leave with your own 1-of-1, handmade pair. Gain the practical skills and knowledge to kick-start your shoemaking journey.

We teach fully transferable techniques you can apply to custom projects, your own brand, or a footwear career. There are no shortcuts — our methods follow traditional sneaker manufacturing processes to ensure you build a strong foundation.

Throughout the course, the London Sneaker School team will guide you step-by-step from design through to final construction.

By the end, you’ll not only understand how to make sneakers — you’ll walk away with a pair designed and crafted entirely by you.

  • You’ll learn how to use shoe patterns as your construct your upper on our industrial post-bed sewing machines.

  • Guided by our experts, you'll embark on a hands-on journey of stretching the upper material over the shoe last. This tactile experience showcases how materials adapt and conform, bringing your design to life in a tangible way.

    Throughout the day, you'll witness the gradual transformation of your design from a flat pattern to a three-dimensional structure. By day's end, you'll not only grasp the art of lasting, a cornerstone of shoemaking, but also appreciate how it harmonises with design choices, culminating in the creation of exceptional sneakers that embody both form and purpose.

  • Day 3 will see us complete the final part of the process as we apply our outsoles on to our lasted upper.

Committed to teaching the skills that enable people to start their own footwear brands, our teaching is based on providing you with transferable shoemaking skills you can continue to develop after your course.

  • We are Angel, London.

  • We cater for all skillsets. We will have plenty of time for practice and get you to point where you will feel confident with the process.

  • For SKL OS shoes we use calf crust leather. A great leather to learn from and understand the properties that go into high quality leather suitable for shoemaking. To ensure a high quality of teaching and keep us on schedule, unfortunately you aren’t able to bring your own materials.

    During the course we will discuss what to look out for when shopping for leather for your own shoes.

  • We'll provide everything you'll need on the day. Have a think about your design — on enrolling we'll be in touch to see what you had in mind. We provide all leather, but if you'd like to something you've found yourself you're welcome to.

    Shoemaking is a craft and requires skill and patience, all we ask is you bring a positive attitude to learning and we'll help you with the rest.

  • The age limit is 16 and above.

    If 14 or 15 please get in touch. We have had students as young as 14 that have been more than capable. Although the course does require high levels of concentration as well as handling heavy machinery and knives.

  • In shoemaking there are generally 2 construction styles for sneakers, oxford and derby. We recommend simply going for the design you’d prefer to wear, as there is no difference in terms of skills required. During the course you will be taught the difference between the two.

  • Our goal at London Sneaker School is to equip people with the skills to go on and start their own brands.

    The SKL OS collection has been designed with this in mind, it serves as a blank for you then to evolve designs and develop your skills as a shoemaker.

    This us allows us to create a course at a more accessible price point and timeframe for students.

    If students are interested in going on to create Jordans and Dunks after the course, there are only tutorials available to them from London Sneaker School.
